INSIGHTS & JOY A business newsletter with Pizzazz!"We help leaders become better marketers January 8, 2003 Last June, I reported that I was optimistic. I observed that many of my entrepreneurial clients were boldly investing in new products and services to continue the growth of their businesses. My gut told me we were headed for better business conditions. The front page of the Business Section of the Dallas Morning News for January 8, 2004, contained the following headlines, "Industry optimistic as tech convention opens," and "Turning the corner - This could be the best quarter for corporate profits in a decade." "Wall Street anticipates that fourth quarter earnings will be outstanding. In fact, we could be in for one of the finest performances in a decade." Productivity is up but employment has been the lagging factor so far. That may soon change! I have included here a quick summary of the most current economic report by Griffin, Kubik, Stephans & Thompson, Inc., Chicago, Illinois. Their full report is attached in Adobe .pdf format if you want more details.Feel free to forward Insights & Joy to friends and associates ►Please note our new e-mail address Subscribe directly by e-mail to rpmorgan@sbcglobal.net and writing "subscribe" in the subject box.Check our web site for $Million Marketing Tips, Insights & Joy Archives, and Free Articles! www.morgan-marketing.bigstep.com IN THIS ISSUE ►An Upside Surprise ►Smiles make the day! ► Amazing facts...An Upside Surprise Non-farm payroll job growth has been positive for four consecutive months, at an average pace of 82,000 per month. Not since February 2001, before the recession officially started, have we seen job growth at this rate. But this growth is still somewhat disappointing. The question everyone is asking is when job growth will truly turn the corner. We suspect the time has come, and tomorrow the December jobs data will show an increase of 200,000 jobs. This is a significant upward revision from our initial estimate of 150,000. Recent data on employment suggest that an upside surprise is in the making. Smiles make the day! ► 30somethings that call you "Ma'am" or "Sir." ► Co-workers who are bright and cheerful first thing in the morning. ► Restaurant servers who disappear when you want the check. Hey! ► People who slurp coffee or soup. ► Waiting through four lights just to make a left turn. ► Receiving tax report forms from the IRS right after Christmas. Yeah, I got 'em too! ► Wacking your knee on the banquet table leg and spilling everybody's drink. Amazing facts!● Most popular American expression? (I'll let you finish that thought.) ● A quarter of the earth's land mass is officially classified as desert. ● The last TV cigarette ad appeared on The Tonight Show on December 31, 1970. We now have 'anti-smoking' ads paid for by cigarette makers. ● How would you know a cherophobe if you met one? They'd be afraid to have any fun! Say, do you remember .... :>) P.S. Ninety-five percent of our engagements originate as a referral from helpful people like you! If you know someone who:● Wants to develop a more productive marketing program, or ● Needs help building and implementing an effective operational business plan, I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss the situation with you. Our ideal client is a business owner or CEO between 30 and 60 years old. Usually with a financial, engineering, or production background.
